Zeekr at Bangsar: an all-imported line-up, two days before Budget 2027

You can test drive every Zeekr at Bangsar this week. The tax rules, not the showroom, will decide what a Zeekr costs after 2027.

TL;DR
Zeekr Carro shows the full Zeekr range and the 9X PHEV at Bangsar Shopping Centre from 7 to 11 October, Paultan.org reports.
Every Zeekr on sale here comes from China. Paultan.org reports the 7X will be the first Zeekr built outside China, with no start date.
Budget 2027 goes to Parliament on 9 October. Full tax exemption for locally assembled EVs runs to 31 December 2027, and nobody knows the rule after that.
Want to test drive an EV before buying it? This week, the Zeekr Carro roadshow at Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) puts every Zeekr model in one hall. The harder question is the tax rule behind each price tag, and that rule may move on Budget day.

What is on show at Bangsar, and at what price?
Paultan.org lists the cars and prices below. The display is on the BSC Main Concourse, 10am to 10pm daily, and the Zeekr Carro team arranges test drives and quotations on site.
Model | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
Zeekr X Premium RWD | RM158,800 | 440 km WLTP |
Zeekr X Flagship AWD | RM175,800 | |
Zeekr 7X RWD Standard Range | RM182,800 | |
Zeekr 7X RWD Long Range | RM193,800 | |
Zeekr 7X AWD Performance | RM230,800 | |
Zeekr 009 Executive (MY2026) | RM304,800 | 116 kWh, 604 km WLTP, seven seats |
Zeekr 9X | From RM800,000 (estimate) | Plug-in hybrid, launch late 2026 or early 2027 |
What is the tax rule, in plain words?
CBU means "completely built up": the car arrives from the factory abroad in one piece. CKD means "completely knocked down": the parts arrive, and a local plant puts the car together. The tax follows that split.
Paultan.org reported in July that tax-free incentives for imported (CBU) EVs ended at the end of 2025. Locally assembled (CKD) EVs keep full tax exemption until 31 December 2027. Paultan.org also reports a MITI rule that sets a RM250,000 minimum price for CBU EVs. It started with brands new to Malaysia and now covers new models from existing brands too.
A plug-in hybrid sits outside the EV rules. For the 9X, Paultan.org explains that excise duty follows engine size, between 75% and 105%. It used the 90% rate for the 9X's 2.0-litre engine.
Who wins, and who loses?
The current Zeekr buyer pays a little more. In February, Paultan.org reported 7X price rises of RM3,000 to RM4,000 (1.6% to 1.8%) after the incentives ended. Zeekr Malaysia said it kept the rise as low as possible as it moved past last year's stock. For a CBU car, that is a gentle bump.
The 9X buyer pays a lot more than a buyer in China. Paultan.org gives the China price as 465,900 to 599,900 yuan, about RM280,000 to RM360,000. The Malaysian estimate starts at RM800,000. Our arithmetic: RM800,000 / RM280,000 = about 2.9 times the China entry price. The final price comes at launch, so treat that ratio as a guide.
The future CKD buyer may win, but on paper only. Paultan.org reports that the 7X will be the first Zeekr assembled outside China. It points to the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley in Tanjong Malim, but Zeekr has not confirmed the plant or a timeline. Paultan.org guesses the end of 2027 at the earliest. If that guess holds, the first local 7X arrives just as the CKD exemption runs out.
Have we seen this before?
Yes, and recently. The CBU exemption ended at the end of 2025, Paultan.org reports, and imported EV prices moved within weeks.
Zeekr sold 2,560 cars here in 2025, its first full year, Paultan.org reports, with the tax-free 009 and 7X leading. That sales run sat on a tax break that is now gone.
Other brands are waiting too. GWM's COO told Paultan.org that its battery-EV plans depend on the policy after 2027. The CBU Ora Good Cat cannot come back unless it is assembled here.
Local assembly also does not cut the price on day one. When Xpeng moved the G6 to CKD in Melaka, Paultan.org reported the same prices as the CBU car, from RM158,888.
What should you watch next?
9 October 2026: Budget 2027. Paultan.org says it goes to Parliament on this date. Look for any rule on CKD EVs after 2027. The MAA asked for a RM7,000 to RM10,000 income tax rebate for xEV buyers. It also asked to keep the RM2,500 home charging tax relief beyond 2027.
Late 2026 or early 2027: the 9X price. The RM800,000 figure is an estimate until launch day.
A start date for the CKD 7X. No date means no price signal yet.

Arjun's take
Test drive the cars, by all means. Feel the seats, check the boot, and drive well, drive safely on those Bangsar roads, ah. But the price you are quoted this week rests on a tax clock, not on the car. The imported break already ended in 2025, and the local one ends in 2027 unless Budget 2027 or a later one extends it. My view, and it is only a view: the CKD 7X will not be a bargain until Putrajaya says what happens after 2027. At the end of the day, the most important test drive this week happens in Parliament on Friday.
