How much does it cost to rent a Tesla in Malaysia with Wattz?

Tesla rentals with Wattz start from RM550/day for a Tesla Model 3, and from RM550/day for a Tesla Model Y (long-range 2026 units run up to RM750/day). The exact daily rate depends on the specific car, trim, and year, and is always shown on that car's own listing page before you book.

What is the security deposit for renting with Wattz?

The refundable security deposit is RM500 for vehicles under RM150,000 in market value, RM1,000 for vehicles between RM150,000 and RM250,000, and RM2,500 for vehicles above RM250,000. This is a pre-authorised hold on your payment method, not a charge. If there are no claims, it is released 3 to 5 business days after you return the vehicle.

How do I charge the EV during my rental?

Your car is handed over with at least 90% battery and must be returned with at least 80%. You can charge at home on a standard wall outlet (slow charge) or at any public DC fast charger (roughly 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes), and a charging guide with recommended stations is sent at handover. Charging costs during your rental are your responsibility.

Can foreigners or tourists rent a car with Wattz?

Yes: foreign visitors can rent with Wattz as long as they hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) together with their home country's driver's license. You'll also need to complete identity verification (eKYC) with a passport or MyKad, a driver's license, and a live selfie, usually processed within 15 to 30 minutes during business hours. Renters must be at least 21 for standard vehicles or 25 for vehicles valued at RM250,000 and above.

Can I drive a Wattz rental car to Singapore?

No. Wattz's Guest Terms & Conditions strictly prohibit taking the vehicle outside Malaysia, including to Singapore, Thailand, or Brunei. If this rule is broken, insurance coverage is voided immediately and the renter is personally liable for all resulting damages, theft, or loss.

Is insurance included when I rent with Wattz?

Yes. Every Wattz rental includes mandatory comprehensive insurance that cannot be declined, covering third-party liability, damage to the vehicle, and theft or fire. If there is a claim, you're responsible for an insurance deductible of RM2,000 for vehicles under RM150,000, RM3,500 for RM150,000 to RM300,000, or RM5,000 above RM300,000, taken first from your security deposit.

What is the mileage limit on a Wattz rental?

Every booking includes 250km of driving, regardless of how many days you rent for. Extra kilometers are charged at RM0.50/km for budget EVs, RM1.00/km for mid-range EVs, or RM1.50/km for premium EVs; an unlimited-mileage add-on is available at booking if you need it.

How does pickup and delivery work?

Each car has its own pickup and return location, shown on that car's listing page, and the exact address is sent to you once your trip is booked. Locations vary by car; see the full fleet listing for details. A delivery add-on can be selected at booking; contact us for the delivery fee and coverage area.

What is Wattz's cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 48 hours before pickup and you get a full refund of the rental fee and insurance fee (the platform fee is non-refundable). Cancel 24 to 48 hours before pickup and you get a 50% refund of those fees; cancel less than 24 hours before pickup, or don't show up, and there is no refund.

Should I rent a Tesla Model 3 or a Model Y?

It comes down to space versus price: the Model 3 starts from RM550/day with 629km WLTP range and 22.9 cu ft of cargo space, while the Model Y starts from RM550/day (up to RM750/day for the long-range 2026 trim) with 600km WLTP range and 76 cu ft of cargo space including the frunk and trunk. Pick the Model 3 for a sedan with slightly longer range at the same starting price; pick the Model Y if you need SUV-style cargo and rear liftgate access for luggage, gear, or a family trip.

I've never driven an EV before, what do I need to know?

Nothing extra beyond a normal booking: you'll complete the same eKYC identity check (usually 15 to 30 minutes) and license check as any Wattz renter, and a charging guide with recommended stations is sent to you at vehicle handover. The car is handed over charged to at least 90% and you return it with at least 80%, so range anxiety on a short rental is minimal.

What documents do I need to book a Wattz rental?

A driver's license held for at least 2 years (Class D or DA for a Malaysian license, or an International Driving Permit plus your home country license for foreign visitors), plus your MyKad or passport for identity verification. You do not need to create an account; everything is confirmed by email and WhatsApp.

What is RENTFLIX?

RENTFLIX is Wattz’s test-own program. You rent an EV for up to 3 days to experience it on your actual routes. If you decide to purchase through Wattz, you get 100% cashback on your rental fee as downpayment credit.

Which EV models are available?

How much does RENTFLIX cost?

eMAS 5: RM 320/day (3-day total: RM 960). eMAS 7: RM 420/day (3-day total: RM 1,260). This is only RM 40/day more than a standard rental — but with the cashback benefit.

How does the 100% cashback work?

If you purchase your EV through Wattz within 30 days of your rental, 100% of your RENTFLIX rental fee is credited toward your downpayment. For example, a 3-day eMAS 7 rental (RM 1,260) becomes RM 1,260 off your purchase.

What if I don’t want to buy?

No strings attached. Simply return the car at the end of your rental period. You only pay for the rental experience — there’s zero obligation to purchase.

Is insurance included?

Yes. Every RENTFLIX rental comes with comprehensive Allianz insurance coverage. You’re fully protected throughout your rental experience.

What happens if there’s an accident or damage?

Contact our support team immediately. Your Allianz coverage handles the claim process. A damage excess may apply depending on the incident — full details are provided at vehicle handover.
